Onion Tart Lyonnaise
Make a pie crust (Salli's was great last time) and bake
for 10 minutes in 425 degree oven.
Ingredients:
- 2 onions, chopped roughly
- 3-4 Tablespoons butter
- 4 eggs beaten
- 3/4 cup cream ) or instead of cream and milk
- 3/4 cup milk ) 1-1/2 cups half and half
- 3-1/2 ounces grated gruyere cheese
- salt and pepper
- grated nutmeg
Proceed as follows
- Saute the chopped onions in the butter until soft only.
- Cool. mix well the other ingredients except the nutmeg.
- Put the onions on the bottom of the partly baked pie
shell.
- Pour the mixture over all. Sprinkle nutmeg on top.
- Bake in 350 degree oven for 30 minutes, according to
the recipe.
- My friend and I find it takes longer -- 40 to 45 minutes.
- Test it with a knife to see if done -- knife should be
almost clean.
